PHASE 1: PLANNING YOUR WEBSITE

The better you plan a site prior to production, the better the site will be.

Included in this phase are:

• Defining the objectives, goals and budget for the proposed website.

• Researching the competition and determine the strategy.

• Outline Site Architecture/determing functionality.

• Assess the branding and determine color scheme, discuss the look & feel desired.

• Gather all asssets- photos, documents and text documents.

• Determine what searches (keywords and 2-3 word phrases) you want to optimize your site for.

PHASE 2: WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

Steps to building your website:

• A "Comp" is designed that will look like the site, A homepage first, upon approval interior page(s) templates are designed.

• The framework and interface are developed, set up the html navigation.

• Proofread and copy edit content. Develop content that it is optimized for the search engines, including the proper modifiers to match keyword phrases. Add the content to the pages. Determine optimal Page Titles.

• Build each page, Add the Metatages and Keywords, Header Tags, add content.

• Add photgraphs or illustrations that are approprite to the content and are optimized for the best image quality and a quick download.

PHASE 3: LAUNCH

Going Live! Let it Launch

• The website files are uploaded to the internet in a location that is not live yet.

• The site is QA'd ( Quality Assurance ) ... Navigation, links and any other functionality are tested, fixed if necessary.

• All pages on the site need to be reviewed.

• The site is moved to the root directory and becomes "live".

• Post launch, the site needs to be Marketed (SEM). Why build a site if no one is going to find it?

• Ongoing updates to the site should be made to keep it current.
